Mayoral Flood Appeal

After a very long battle with the Southern Downs Regional Council office in Warwick, a claim was lodged for assistance for items being lost in the recent flood on January 11.
I received a call from the Mayor’s office on March 1, stating that receipts had to be produced before March 31 for the claim to be accepted.
On March 15, a letter was posted to the Mayor’s office in Warwick, stating items lost, with receipts. I was advised the letter was not received; also a return sender address was made.
A copy of the letter and receipts were forwarded to the Mayor’s office by Cr Vic Pennisi who has helped me, along with Cr Denise Ingram and the Australian Red Cross. I believe Stanthorpe people and businesses have donated monies towards the flood appeal and monies raised should have been shared with all the residents affected here by the flood.
I wish to thank everyone for the great help and support in Stanthorpe and believe many have been disappointed and so was I.

Linda Vinciguerra, Stanthorpe
