Commemorate

Last year the ex-service organisations in Warwick seemed to neglect three very important Australian commemorative events. The first was the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong in Korea on April 23 to 24, 1951. These were the highest casualties that Australia had suffered since World War 2. The losses were 32 killed, 59 wounded and three were captured. The second event was Korean Veterans’ day on the July 27 which was ignored. The third and very important one was the 70th Anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Sydney 2 on the November 19 and the lives of the 645 sailors who were lost were totally ignored. It shouldn’t have taken much to organise ceremonies for these commemorations as they are very important to the relatives of the service personnel who served.
