Mini train holiday fun at Leslie Park

This school holidays, Leslie Park will play host to Southern Downs Steam Railway’s mini train between 9 am and 3 pm each day.

The train itself has a long history and one of its drivers, Kevin Patterson, has been involved with the venture for a number of years.

“I’ve been driving it for the last two years whenever I could,” Kevin said.

Weather permitting, the train set up operation at Leslie Park on Monday as it does on most school holidays and if there was high interest, Kevin said it would stay open longer in the afternoon (after 3 pm).

For $2 a ticket, kids are able to experience a ride but before the mini train was even operational, Kevin explained they had their share of problems with it.

Helen Harm of Helen Harm Real Estate sponsored the repairs of the train to ensure it was kept up and running in the community.

“I earn my living from the community and the more we can improve the community and if everyone chips in, it’s great,” Helen said.

Most recently, kids of all ages were treated to an entertaining specialist zone during Jumpers and Jazz in July, which included the ever-popular mini train.

Leslie Park is located in the heart of Warwick, just off Palmerin Street.
