Volunteers wanted to help our farmers

Many farmers in the Warwick surrounds continue to receive much needed help on their properties thanks to volunteers with the Murray Darling Basin Flood Recovery Project.
Now based at Slade Campus, the crews consisting of farmers from Victoria, locals, and from other districts far and wide are being sent out most days to help with fencing, removing debris and other tasks to alleviate the otherwise mammoth effort needed by landholders to recover their land after floods.
Harley West, crew organiser, is so encouraged by the positive energy from the current volunteers.
“If you can help on week days – or join the Weekend Warriors – we’ll find the right spot for you. Doesn’t matter about experience –  male or female – you’ll be put with some skilled workers who can show you what to do,” Mr West said.
Volunteers wanting to assist either through the week or on weekends should phone Landcare on 4661 9909 or Southern Downs Regional Council volunteer coordinator Bette Bonney on 0459 098 612 for further details and sign up.
