Only Murders in the Building season two officially debuted its final episode last week and boy did it deliver.

The show follows three crime podcast enthusiasts in the form of Charles (played by Steve Martin), Oliver (played by Martin Short) and Mabel (played by Selena Gomez) as they try to solve the murder of Bunny, an ill-liked manager of the hotel the trio live at.

In a dramatic ending to season one, it’s revealed that she has been stabbed and it looks like Mabel was the culprit.

After being called in for questioning, season two kicks off with a bang and the following eight episodes take watchers on a journey that is both comical and light-hearted, and always delightful to consume.

Season two also leaned into the campiness more and knows exactly what story it’s trying to tell. It also introduces new characters like Lucy (Charles’ son) who bring a fun new tone – and youthfulness – to the show and as always, jokes about age differences are rife.

However, while the grand finale is compelling and fun, it felt a little rushed.

The grand reveal happens in this episode and to do it even more justice, a better build-up would have made it even greater.

Nonetheless, overall, season two proves to be just as good as the first with some improvements, including Selena Gomez’s acting.
