Nine out of 10 patients have approved the medical services offered at Warwick Hospital.

A survey conducted by Queensland Health, to which Warwick and Stanthorpe Today had access, showed that 93 per cent consider the assessment of care to be “very good or good” in the hospital.

Additionally, 90 per cent informed being always treated with respect and dignity, while 91 per cent affirmed to receive the right amount of information about their condition or treatment provided.

The patient reported experience survey started on 24 March 2021 and asked 87 patients about their recent experience with the care received at the hospital.

“As always, we are incredibly proud of the work done by our frontline staff, and we are committed to genuinely partnering with the people who use our services,” Darling Downs Health Acting Chief Executive Annette Scott said.

“We have a few ways people can provide feedback to us, and one of these is a relatively new approach to collecting patient-reported experience measures (known as PREMs). Taking part in these online surveys is voluntary and is used to find out what we are doing well and what can be improved.”

On Wednesday, 13 October, Warwick and Stanthorpe Today visited the hospital at 2pm seeking patients’ feedback. Four customers out of five demonstrated satisfaction with the staff and institution on that day. Among the services used were dentist, emergency and x-ray.

“I came last night to the emergency room. The whole staff was polite, professional and knowledgeable, especially the nurses,” a patient who didn’t want to be identified said.

The only complaint came from a man about to use the emergency services, suspected of having a broken arm.

“Once, I was left waiting, not knowing what was going on. I had to follow up multiple times. I have been here three times. All times are pretty disappointing,” he said.

Another survey started on 15 September 2021 on general surgery outpatient showed that 80 per cent gave Warwick Hospital a “very good overall rating of care”. All interviewed responded that they have confidence and trust in healthcare professionals, that medical explanations were given understandably, and that they were always treated with respect and dignity.
