Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) approved the permanent road closure of Frees Road, Goomburra, at 13 July Council Meeting.

The official motion stated that, “SDRC advised the Department of Resources that it does not object to the application for permanent road closure of the road reserve adjoining Lot 305 on G5171 and Lot 7 on SP322837”.

According to the report presented on the day, in June of this year views were sought from the Directorates of Council, which are as follows:

– Infrastructure Services provided no objection to the application for permanent road closure subject to consultation with adjoining landholders.

– Planning and Development provided no objection to the application for permanent road closure subject to the amalgamation of the closed road reserve in with one of the adjoining parcels.

– Finance, Assets and Special Projects provided no objection to the application for permanent road closure subject to consultation with adjoining landholders.

As a result, councillors wanted to make it clear that they did not object to the application.

Staff recommended that Council advise the Department of Resources of such.

The motion was moved by Cr Andrew Gale and seconded by Cr Cynthis McDonald.
