Warwick Chamber of Commerce has welcomed a new president, Gary Lawrence.

Mr Lawrence was recently elected after a period of time when the chamber did not have a president.

The new president has a decorated history in business after opening DD Event Hire in January of 2017 and then JoJo’s Brewhouse in January of 2020.

Mr Lawrence said DD Event Hire had won several awards.

“In the last three years DD Event Hire has won best event hire business for Southeast Queensland in the brides choice awards,” he said.

“It was also awarded runner up in Australia at the 2021 brides’ choice awards.”

Warwick Chamber of Commerce (WCC) committee for 2022 comprises vice-president Michael Jones, treasurer Thomas Smith and secretary Wendy Campbell.

Already the WCC is set to advocate and promote its members through events and activities by initiating a bi-monthly connect breakfast series for all its members.

“There will be a different guest speaker at each series,“ Mr Lawrence said.

The first connect breakfast will be Tuesday 15 November with the Southern Downs Regional Council Mayor Vic Pennisi and the CEO Dave Burges.

As a proactive force in the community, WCC has many events in the works such as Business at Dusk starting in 2023, and a rural women in business lunch in October 2023, with co-founder of Eggy Katie Morgan as the guest speaker.

“We are working on a mental health and well-being workshop in 2023 with Kirk Reynoldson, former St George Illawarra Dragons NRL player, as one of a number of guests,” Mr Lawrence said.

A highlight for many Warwick businesses will be the business awards next November.

Mr Lawrence said the committee are working to be one voice for the businesses of Warwick.
