Three things about Summer

Here's three things to know about summer.

1. The first Olympic Games was held in the summer of 1896 in Athens Greece. Officially known as the Games of the I Olympiad. History is disputed but they believe 14 countries took part in the games with 241 athletes who were all male.

2. Summer solstice falls on 22 December this year and only happens once a year.

It’s when the sun tracks across our skyscape and reaches its highest apex.

It’s also the day with the most daylight hours.

3. Summer means mossie season!

Summer in the land of Aus is considered peak annoyance season to humans. Mosquitoes are known to spread diseases through their bites and some people are allergic to the proteins in their saliva which usually results in red itchy swelling.
