A major $15 million refurbishment is set to overhaul one of Warwick’s most historic buildings.

The Warwick Police Station, located on Fitzroy Street next to the court house, will soon undergo a 15 month-long renovation with construction on the upgrade to start imminently.

In the meantime, police have temporarily relocated to the government office building at 35 Guy Street where they are expected to remain until late-2025.

Warwick Police Acting Senior Sargeant Cam Slater said access hours and phone numbers would remain the same during the relocation, while “a blue phone will be available for after hours contact at the front of the building”.

The heritage-listed facility on Fitzory Street has been used by police for more than 100 years since its initial opening in 1901.

The building has undergone several renovations in the time since, the last coming in 1992.

A multi-million dollar facelift for the facility has been in the works for several years, with project funds first put aside by the Queensland government in 2021, ahead of an official announcement one year later.
