What could be better than a local doing local things?

On Friday, the Granite Belt Growers Association toured around the region sampling wines and ports and engaging with our local wineries on a Fillipo’s Wine Tour.

Our region has some of the most spectacular vineyards in the country, offering an amazing variety of wines, depending on where they are located on the Granite Belt due to their climate and altitude.

Our growers picks from the tour:

Casley Wines – The Chenin Blanc and the young Shiraz.

Ridgemill Estate – The Albarino and the Saperavi.

Ballandean Estate – Angela’s Port and the Miscuglio.

Granite Ridge – The Chardonella and the Topaz.

On our tour, we stopped at the Queensland College of Wine and Tourism, for a tasty lunch at Varias Restaurant. Our lunch spread included paired Banca Ridge wines, of which the Rose and the Late Picked Verdelho were of note.

The team at Fillipo’s Tours made us feel so welcome, offering driver Casey as the sacrifice for the day. Casey took us all over, giving expert commentary and providing such lovely conversation and local knowledge.

If you are looking for a great event for your organisation, get out and see what your local area has to offer. I know that we’ll certainly be holding this event again in the future.
