Broadway songs and fine dining

Song, food and wine will combine in an unforgettable way when the Savoyard Singers come to Stanthorpe on Saturday 21 September.

While the singers are serving up musical theatre tunes from some of Broadway’s famous shows, the Varias Restaurant at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism will bring out its award-winning style of fare with a three-course alternate drop meal.

The Savoyard Singers have been a favourite on the Music in the Gallery calendar at the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery for the past 12 years and are celebrating 25 years as an entertainment troupe this year.

The show will feature Mary Ewing, Mark Craig, Claudia Marcus, John Hills, Ross Muirhead and accompanist Jye Burton, all under the artistic direction of Phyll Griffin, founder of the group. A group song will start the show, The Night They Invented Champagne – rather fitting at a wine-based venue – and other favourites will include Everything Old is New Again, There is Nothin’ Like a Dame, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Girl from Ipanema, With One Look and Arthur’s Theme. Songs will touch on other shows including Les Misérables, Chess, Mack and Mabel, Ragtime and Miss Saigon.

The event will start at 4.30pm. Tickets are $95 each and can be purchased at trybooking.com/CTCKK or by phoning the college.
