The combination of Ian Pickering and Max Hunter proved a winning partnership in the 4BBB Stableford on the Delaney family golf day sponsored by the family in memory of their father Kev Delaney. Delaney is remembered as an accomplished sports person, a keen golfer and a mentor to junior golfers. Members of the Delaney family including Gem, Rod and Kerrin returned to Stanthorpe for the 2018 event.

The winners returned a score of 47 two points clear of their nearest rivals. Pickering was in good touch and did the bulk of the scoring but was well supported by Hunter. The pair set up the win scoring 26 points on the front nine. The back nine was not quite as good but 21 points was enough to secure the win.

There were no shortage of scores of 45 and after a detailed count back Darryl Boekholt and Neta Thouard were declared runners up. Also finishing on 45 were Dave Burgess and Matt Burgess Matt and Nikki Waterworth.

The team of Santo Cavallaro and Mike McAuliffe had the best front nine to Tom and Trish Fittock did best on the back nine.

Annelle Batterham won the Ladies Approach shot at eight and Brendan Baker the Men’s at 13.

Pins were collected by Brendan Barker (3), Alan Kerr (12) and Matt Waterworth (17). Pro-pins went to Rod Delaney at 1/10 and Matt Burgess collected the rest while. Matt Waterworth picked up collected the nest at the second hole.

Neta Thouard held the ladies pin at 12 and Trish Fittock had best approach at 17.

The December countdown begins in earnest on Saturday and play will be for the December monthly medal and putting competition, sponsored by the Stanthorpe Golf club. Following the day’s competition the club is holding their Christmas party and an open invitation is extended to all members.
