Self selected fours final thriller

The final of the Warwick Bowled Club Self Selected Fours was played on Saturday following delays due to weather and District events and was a thriller.

The final of the Warwick Bowled Club Self Selected Fours was played on Saturday following delays due to weather and District events and was a thriller.

In the exciting game Pamela Kerr, Phil Wagner, Brian Black and Craig Thurgate defeated Aaron Payne, Peter Guy, Richard Tartan and Tim Gallagher 19-18.

The final had a little of everything and enthralled players and onlookers. The teams were tied at five all at the seventh end his team snatched an 11-7 lead by the 11th end. Gallagher’s team hit back claiming five shots on the 17th and 18th ends and led 18-14.

Their opponents were not done with and came back to tie the game at 18 all Craig’s team to tie 18 each on the 20th End.

On the final end Craig Thurgate played a memorable bowl sitting his bowl on the kitty to claim the game and the final.

Sue Dempsey, Pamela Kerr and Gary Cooper were the winners of the only social game played at the Cub on Saturday (9/7).

They defeated John Ruhle, Peter Guy and Richard Tartan 22-18.

The club hosted their jackpot bowls day recently. The jackpot number of minus nine went unchallenged. The winners of the lucky Draw were Pat Seipelt and Edwin Wels.

A. Vernal and Russell Bean def. Team 2 : +10- 10. Arron Payne and Max Holder tied with Team 5: 0 each.

Saturday 30/7 the Club Selected Pairs Competition begins, and social bowls will also be played.
