Let the games begin

With the Commonwealth Games almost upon us I am feeling a little nostalgic.

Four years ago, I was gearing up to volunteer on the Gold Coast.

Getting to Birmingham was just a bit of a stretch so I won’t be volunteering at back-to-back Comm Games though I wish I was.

You can be guaranteed that I will be glued to the TV for the entirety. That mean I guess there will be lots of black coffee and not much sleep. I can’t wait to watch Ben Armbruster make his debut in Aussie colours.

I will be cheering loudly for the Aussie girls in the Sevens having been in amongst the Caslick cheer squad when they won silver at the Coast. In that game Charlotte Caslick suffered a bad concussion so fingers crossed she and they (team) have more luck if and when they make the final this Games.

Meg Lanning and the Australian Women’s Cricket team will be out to make history when they play at the Games. The first time Cricket will be represented. That is pretty exciting.

I am hoping some Aussie gold combined with the black coffee will take away the bitter taste left after this past week’s NRL games.

While I tipped the Cowboys and took them in our tipping comepitition I cannot believe the way the game was decided and believe me I needed those two tipping points.

Will someone in authority please blow up the Bunker. In fact I’m pretty sure the Tigers players, officials and supporters would like to tear the whole thing apart after last weekend.

We are all for advancement and technology but surely not at the cost of the game.

The Tigers hierarchy are clearly not happy, and their boss has spoke with

ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys and NRL CEO Andrew Abdo about the blunder over the weekend – no surprise there.

There is talk they, the Tigers, have not ruled out legal action. Let’s hope that is heat of the moment talk. It is bad enough we have the Bunker deciding the outcome of games I am sure fans don’t want games decided in court battles.

Please someone do something before this great game is completely ruined.

Now what channel do I need for the Games surely there will be a little sanity there.

Casey
