Busy week golfers

Warwick Sandstone and Wendy and Wayne Rhea sponsored the Ladies 18/9 Stableford at the Warwick Golf Club on 20/7. Conditions were bleak and challenging for the play for the 16 golfers.

The conditions did not faze Majella Kahler who finished her round with a winning score of 37 points. The nine hole winners did not seem to be deterred by the conditions either.

Carole Brandon who played well on Tuesday at Cabarlah won the front nine. Her score 21 points. Di Johnston did best on the back nine with 19 points.

Anne Lyons (35), Mary Young (31), Jill Barnes (30) and Yvonne Pinington (28) figured in the run downs.

Mary Young won the Pro Pin on the 7th sharing it with Anne Lyons and Roslyn Darton.

A busy week for the golfers continued on Friday with the Warwick club hosting the Adam Falconer Shield pennant teams on Friday. Given the horrible conditions. The Warwick ladies were pleased to host and not playing given the dreadful conditions. After the round Warwick sit in third place two points behind Pittsworth and half a point in arrears of City. There are just two round remaining.

Saturday conditions were a little more favourable when the field teed off in the July -Monthly Medal contest. The winning score in both divisions was 71 nett.

The current batch of inform players all stepped up in this comepitition and figured in the top placings. Majella Kahler continued her fine form winning Division one. The runner up was Jill Barnes with 75 nett.

Division Two was a close contest. Ros Darton declared the winner after getting the nod in a countback after she and Di Johnston each returned nett 71.

Jill Barnes was the winner of the Division one putting comepitition needing 29 putts for her round. Tub Ingall also needed only 29 putt to win the Division Two putting comepitition.

Players in the rundown were Tub Ingall and Carole Brandon (7, Judy Lester 78 and Annice Payne (80). Judy Lester held the Div. two approach on the third and Carole Brandon landed her ball 60mm away from the hole to win the Div. Three approach at the fifth. Mary Young, Marg Adcock, Ellie Casey and Di Evans shared in the Pro Pin.

The July Monthly Medal sponsored by the Condamine Sports Club. Saturday (30/7) the ladies play a Red Stableford sponsored by AOK Clothing.
