Silly socks for festival spirit

Fun on the green. Silly sock day.

The Southern Cross Bowls club followed the thread of the Warwick Jumpers and Jazz Festival on Saturday hosting the highly anticipated Cool Scarves Silly Socks last Saturday.

The afternoon attracted many new faces while a number of players travelled from other clubs for the event.

Conditions for the bowlers were excellent with just a light wind helping to make those perfect shots.

The new players proved to be quick studies and in no time picked up the technique of how to roll a bowl.

There was no chance of missing the colourful team of Jacqui Ritchie, Tina Schubert and Pam Moore, not only did they standout on the green in their colourful outfits their excellent bowls could not be ignored, and they went on to win the event.

In second place was the team of Geoff Davis, Peter Klowss and Julie Buse. The prize for the coolest socks went to Skaines.

Continuing with the Jumpers and Jazz theme, this Sunday (31/7), the club hosts the Jumpers and Jazz Fours Carnival. There is a total of $1000 prizemoney to be won and the action starts at 9am. Contact Clark to nominate on 0427 673 277.

Meanwhile the Southern Cross Ladies will hold their committee meeting Thursday 4 August at 10.30am. Membership fees are due for renewal and the AGM will be held Sunday, August 14, 11am followed by BBQ lunch and bowls at 1pm.
