“Who Let the Dogs Out” has been playing across Texas after the Terriers fought their way into the 2022 grand final of the Border Rivers Rugby League with a hard-fought 28-26 victory over home side Inglewood.

Diehard Terriers supporter Rod Loy said Texas was right behind their team.

“The whole town is pumped up and right behind the Boys, especially after last weekend great win over Inglewood,” he said.

“There will be a big contingent of supporters travelling to Tenterfield for the game.

“They’ll know we are there.”

Loy said he felt the strong Texas forward pack was the difference in the team’s win over Inglewood.

The Preliminary final was a real nail-biter.

With a place in the 2022 Border Rivers League grand final on the line the Roosters came out firing and had all the early running.

Roosters inspirational captain coach Brent Osborne put his side on the board early on, running in the first try of the game with Mitch Stafford adding the extras.

Tries to Caleb Braden and Jaycob Mudge followed as the Roosters extended their lead.

However, 20 minutes into the game a try to Tristan Kerwick got the Terriers on the board and with the conversion successful the Terriers trailed 16-6.

Texas were never going to go down without a fight.

They went on a try-scoring rampage in the second half crossing for three unanswered tries before Brent Hearne scored his second to make the finish very interesting.

With 10 minutes on the clock, Terriers’ centre Jamie Kiliendienst scored to give Texas a two-point lead which they held on to in a nailbiter as the time clicked down.

They have now booked their place in this weekend’s grand-final against Minor Premiers Tenterfield Tigers.

The Tigers, who had last weekend off, go into the game as warm favourites.

They have lost only two fixture games through the 2022 season and one of those was to Texas in round 11.

The Texas side has been building throughout the season and Rod Loy believes their strong forward pack can give them the edge in the final as they did against the Roosters.

If they (Terriers) can conjure a win, it will be the first grand final win for the club since 2010.

Its almost a guarantee that if they win, the tiny town will be rocking to ‘Who Let the Dogs Out’ on Saturday night and probably all through next week too.
