Heart-warming wraps

Patricia Small and Rosslyn Johnson present “Wrap With Love”. 109490

PARTS of Papua New Guinea are so poor they can’t send new-borns home in warm wraps so they’re wrapped liked fish and chips, in newspaper.
Hopefully some will go home in new warm cuddlies thanks to the women of Woodenbong.
Fifty colourful wraps, trauma teddies and outfits for premature babies were on show at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church before being sent to PNG.
These were all lovingly hand-crafted by local talented knitters and crocheters of the Woodenbong and Urbenville Wrappers Group.
Millions of people in the world suffer from extreme cold, so in1992 “Wrap With Love” began with the idea to help as many people as possible by providing handmade warm blankets to ward off hypothermia.
Since then thousands of wraps have been sent to people in more than 75 countries, including Australia, with the help of hard-working and generous volunteers.
A rug generously donated by Val Everitt was won by Wilma Lee.
A sum of $300 was raised which will purchase supplies for the group for next season.
A total of 40 visitors admired the articles at a morning tea and a second viewing proved popular. Organisers Rosslyn Johnson and Patricia Small thanked everyone for their support.
