Mayor to cross DV finish

SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council Mayor Cr Peter Blundell will finish his CEO Challenge campaign this Friday, 22 November at a special judging event in Brisbane.
CEO Challenge is a nation-wide campaign that asks CEOs and community leaders to take action to help prevent domestic violence in families and communities.
“In this campaign CEOs, senior business leaders and prominent community leaders
compete against each other over a six month period to promote awareness of domestic violence and its impact on workplaces and the community,” he said.
“While doing so (we) raise funds to support local services for women who need
housing or other assistance.”
Cr Blundell is competing with nine other CEO Challenge contenders and said he
was looking forward to the judging event but wasn’t concerned about “winning or
losing”.
“We will be able to handover our funds raised and I think our great success has
been raising awareness about this tough issue,” he said.
“I was able to talk about domestic violence at several community events, at my
fundraising activities and encourage others to talk about it.
“The funds raised from my campaign will go to local support services for families
experiencing domestic violence and this is very important to everyone who has
been a part of my CEO Challenge,” he said.
Cr Blundell extended his thanks to the many local businesses that supported his
campaign by donating raffle prizes.
“My thanks also goes to my CEO Challenge working party for helping me to make
the campaign a success,” he said.
