STANTHORPE’S ArtWorks on Davadi will celebrate its second birthday on Friday, 6 December with Curious, a community art production.
With close links to the disability community, the second birthday celebrations will coincide with International Day of People with a Disability, centre co-ordinator Leisa Cavallo said.
“We’ve been having community art workshops, working to make lanterns and some ‘curious’ costumes for the evening,” she said.
“The entertainment for the night will be supplied by people who have put on workshops here.
“We’ve got poets, we’ve got stand-up comics, we’ve got our own Davadi Street Mob,” Ms Cavallo said.
Drinks and nibbles will be available at the function which starts at 6pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.
The community space started in 2011 as a venue to support artists at work, to learn and to teach, and as a gallery to display their talents.
It comprises a cafe, gallery and private meeting and training rooms.
Over the past year ArtWorks has held dozens of workshops and fund-raisers. It also won a prestigious award from Arts Queensland.
