Rock rolls, closing road

A HUGE boulder estimated to weigh more than 300 tonnes crashed on to the Cunningham Highway on Tuesday afternoon, blocking both lanes.
Workers were removing dangerously overhanging rocks when the five metre by nine metre monster rock fell, damaging the road surface near Gap Creek Bridge.
The rock will have to be removed and the road surface repaired before traffic can again pass through Cunninghams Gap.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads said the road would be closed for at least 24 hours and traffic should travel by alternative routes.
