A SUCCESSFUL rock ‘n’ roll musical evening was organised by Warwick’s recently-incorporated local Aboriginal group Waringh Waringh just before Christmas.
Waringh Waringh is the traditional name for the Warwick district and the group has been formed by long-term Warwick residents including Githabul Traditional Owners.
They plan to take action on several community issues and this was their first public event.
The evening was a great night out with music provided by popular local artists A to B, Mal Lingard, Michael John, Barry Heffernan and Norma Jean and rock and roll music resonated in the Cowboys’ clubhouse until well into the evening.
Guest artist was popular local Aboriginal singer Roger Knox who has recently released a new album.
A highlight of the evening was the up and coming duet of Joanne McGrady and Delphine Charles, known as the J-Dels.
They not only backed the other artists in many songs but also performed their own pieces with several brackets during the evening.
Organisers thanked those who supported the evening and enjoyed the numerous raffles and the supper.
