ArtWorks open day

STANTHORPE’S community art venue is to hold an open day on Monday.
“With the Australia Day long weekend recognised as being a perfect time for celebration, Artworks invites you to join us for our Community Open Day,” co-ordinator Sonja Salzke said.
Activities start from 11am with lantern-making, or there’s a chance to contribute to the ArtWorks’ prayer flag.
Ali Gaffney will share her love of Nia dance and the yoga ladies will be offering a light-hearted introduction to yoga.

Artist-in-residence, Laurie Astill, will be working on his latest masterpiece while in the main gallery will feature Laurie’s Larrikins Exhibition.
Corina Graham’s exhibition Progression will be in the newly opened Access Gallery for emerging artists.
“To complement the day and the growth of Artworks the fantastic team in the Community Cafe will present their new menu,” Ms Salzke said.
“The cafe aims to attract those looking for healthy options as well those who enjoy a good coffee.”
Open Mike begins at 1pm, and visitors are encouraged to bring along a poem or a tune or just tap their toes and enjoy the creative atmosphere.
A barbecue lunch of tasty kebabs and salad will be available.
“The team at Artworks on Davadi is passionate about celebrating and connecting community,” Ms salzke said.
She said the arts hub had grown into a favourite ‘home away from home’ for many of Stanthorpe’s community members and creative groups since it was established in 2011.
