GOING to the aid of a drink-driving mate isn’t a wise move if you’ve been drinking yourself.
That’s the lesson one man learned in Stanthorpe after police noticed a vehicle doing a U-turn in one-way Victoria Street at about 1.30am on Saturday morning.
The vehicle was intercepted and a 23-year-old male tourist was charged with drink-driving after recording .102 per cent on the breathalyser.
His associate later drove to the police station to pick up his mate and take him home.
Police detected the smell of liquor on his breath and the man was then subjected to the breathalyser, returning a reading of .187 per cent.

Samaritan bashed
A 44-YEAR-OLD woman was kicked, punched and then robbed by an unknown man after the victim intervened in a disturbance between the offender and another woman in Stanthorpe CBD at about 8pm on Friday 17 January.
The offender then allegedly removed money from the victim’s handbag before leaving the scene.
Stanthorpe Police are seeking information from any person who may have witnessed the incident.

Drug offence
A 20-YEAR-OLD Ballandean man was charged with possessing a small quantity of cannabis after police stopped his vehicle and detected the drugs at Applethorpe on Tuesday night, 14 January.

Tyre bandits
POLICE are seeking offenders who entered the premises of Crisp Coaches in Davadi Street a sometime between the 14-17 January and stole a number of tyres.
Offenders are believed to have scaled the fence before removing the tyres, estimated to be valued at approximately $5000.

Drugs seized
A TOOWOOMBA man will appear in the Warwick Magistrates’ Court at a later date after being found allegedly in possession of amphetamines.
The 33-year-old was stopped in Park Road, Warwick, and a search of the vehicle located the alleged drugs.

Vehicles burnt
ON Sunday police and firefighters attended a grass fire in Condamine Street, Warwick. The fire moved into an adjacent wrecking yard where it caused damage to seven vehicles. Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.

Fraud charges
WARWICK police on Friday, 17 January arrested and charged a 19-year-old Spring Creek man with three counts of stealing and six of fraud over the misuse of a credit card. He was released on bail to appear in the Warwick Magistrates’ Court in February.

Car seized
A WARWICK man caught driving while disqualified had his car confiscated by police for 90 days.
The 37-year-old was also given a Notice to Appear for the offence after he was stopped in Cleary Street on Tuesday, 14 January.
