ALLY Duske, last year’s Miss Warwick Showgirl, will hand over her tiara on Saturday night at the Warwick Credit Union Autumn Show Ball.
Ally said that “becoming Miss Warwick Showgirl 2013 had been a wonderful experience” and she encouraged all young women that have a passion for country life to enter.
“Apart from the senior section 18-28 years there is a junior section for ages 13-17 years. This gives junior young ladies a glimpse of the judging process, public speaking and presentation on the night of the Ball,” she said.
“It builds self esteem and confidence – it’s a stellar event.”
This year a Rural Ambassador Award has been included and this means that men or women aged 20-30 years who may be married or have a family can enter. All that is required is a passion for the land and country shows. Entrants may be a farmhand or truck driver and tertiary qualifications are not a prerequisite for the Rural Ambassador Award. It’s about getting young people involved.
Judging is at the same time as the Showgirl and the Rural Ambassadors are presented at the Warwick Credit Union Autumn Show Ball where the winner is announced.
Once elected, the Warwick Rural Ambassador can then compete at Darling Downs level at the Royal Toowoomba Show and if successful go on to compete for the title of Queensland Rural Ambassador at the Ekka in August.
The Warwick Credit Union Autumn Show Ball starts at 6.30pm includes a sumptuous two-course meal and dancing provided by Mike Woollett for $30/head prepaid or $35 at the door. So for a great night, book your ticket on 4661 9060 now.
