FOR locals struggling with the soaring costs of living, the onset of winter poses another challenge – keeping warm.
This month, the Australian Red Cross is calling on residents to dig deep and donate blankets, doonas and warm clothing to its Doing It Tough Appeal.
Red Cross Warwick team leader Kay Jones said she had witnessed a marked increase in the number of people requiring assistance since she began volunteering at the store more than 10 years ago.
“Warwick people are generous people, but we do need more,” Mrs Jones said.
She said the blankets and doonas they had already received were running out the door.
“We just get them in and they are gone within a couple of hours,” she said.
“Twenty-four hours is the longest they would stay in the shop.”
To donate your winter woollies head to Shop G2, Rose City Shopping Centre, Grafton Street during business hours.
