Southern Cross Bowls

This coming Sunday 8 February will be social mixed bowls starting at 1pm. Names in by 12.30pm please. Coming up on 15 February is the open Carnival and another date to mark on your calendar is the Four Franks day scheduled for Saturday 7 March.

There will be social bowls also starting at 3pm. Don’t forget the men folk are also welcome to come along any Thursday and enjoy a game of bowls.
Ladies make a note the next monthly meeting will also be today Thursday 5 February at 1pm.

THE weather had a dampening effect on the number of bowlers participating in the first two games of bowls played this year, but there are reports that the green played well and the side kicked off last Wednesday with Dad’s Army, and here are the results: K. Saturday’s Social results were: A. Naylor, J. Ruhle 23 v L. Meiklejohn, B. Black 16; K. Hayes, M. Holder 21 v R. Valentine, E. Welsh 20; P. Cutmore, B. Maunder, C. Johnson 25 v I. Fordyce, B. Buckel, J. Cutmore 10. The Carnival will be played next Sunday. Looking ahead we have Social on Saturday, Carnival on Sunday, Jackpot on Wednesday 11 February and Annual Meeting on Saturday 14 February.

Winners of the day were R. Philp team with 30 points with G. Dents team runners-up. on 28 points.
Good to see Graeme Wallace back after long holiday also Col Johnson as a reliable replacement along with Louise Tucker.
