ANOTHER opportunity has opened up for Stanthorpe children, with Warwick Christian College now offering a weekly Granite Belt bus run.
After fielding expressions of interest from Stanthorpe parents seeking a non-denominational Christian education for their children, college principal, Jenny Lang, secured a Toyota 21-seater bus for the P-10 school and organised a bus run to fill the void, beginning this term.
“In Stanthorpe there are two choices for secondary school education: Stanthorpe State High School and St Joseph’s School, and several choices in primary schooling from the outer smaller state schools, Stanthorpe State School and St Joseph’s School,” Ms Lang said.
“With firsthand experience of all schools on the Granite Belt, Stanthorpe and surrounds is rich in possibilities for quality education.
“The difference that Warwick Christian College offers the Granite Belt is an innovative, authentic, Christian education, where every student’s unique learning needs are assessed and programmed for through the purposefully designed classroom structure and integrated learning enrichment program, Every student matters.
“There are bus runs to Warwick Christian College for children living at Allora, Killarney and Clifton, as well as local students, but transport from Stanthorpe is less readily available.”
The cost of the bus for two children is just $25 per week and any additional children for $12.50 each.
Local Stanthorpe father and Warwick Christian College teacher aide, Trevor Cunningham, will drive the bus, which will collect students from the Vineyard Christian Church at 85 Connor Street at 7.15am and escort them to the beautiful historic grounds of the Slade School Campus at 70 Horsman Road, Warwick.
Drop off back to the Vineyard Church is expected at 4.30pm.
Established in 2007, the college, which relocated to the Slade Campus at the start of 2013, aims to provide an affordable Christian education to the families of the Southern Downs.
It is accredited to teach Prep to Year 12, with current students beginning their senior phase of learning in Year 10 this year. The first Year 12 cohort will graduate in 2017.
