Rock swap was a gem

A magnificent piece of quartz pyrite.

GEMSTONES and antiques stole the show at the Warwick Rock Swap over the weekend.
The rainy weather didn’t deter a group of keen collectors from attending the annual event, held at the Warwick Showgrounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Art, stamps and antique china were among the other valuables brought to the show by dealers coming from as far away as the Sunshine Coast.
Organiser Dawn Hole of Darling Downs Antiques and Collectibles Club said the swap enjoyed a significant turnout despite the rainy weather.
“It’s a great event every year, and we were pleased that a lot of regular visitors came despite the rain,” she said.
“We have dealers, valuers and buyers. It’s a gathering of people with a shared interest.”
The show also catered to younger rock enthusiasts, offering visiting children a lucky dip.
Dawn said the swap offered something for every collector or appreciator of rocks and gems.
“It’s an event where people can come to sell or trade, but we do get a lot of people who are interested in coming to see the gemstones.”
The Antiques and Collectibles Club is already looking forward to next year’s event.
