Winter woollies at Woodenbong

The handiwork on display.

A MORNING tea and public showing of rugs, scarves, beanies and handcrafted items was held at the Catholic Church, Woodenbong, which displayed the dedicated and talented handiwork of a group of 20 craftswomen who come from Woodenbong, Urbenville, Ballina and Sydney.
The knitters and crocheters had produced 42 rugs which were much admired for their variety and quality.
All the completed items are sent to Sister Denise Laverty of the Sisters of Mercy, Brisbane to be distributed to the needy, and are usually all gone in two weeks. A total of $140 in donations were raised by those who attended the showing, which will be used to buy wool for the future creations.
A very big ‘thankyou’ to all those involved for such a worthy and charitable effort.
