Baroque for cello mellow

Belinda Manwaring and Tim Blomfield and their baroque cellos.

Baroque music is all the rage at the moment with the Brisbane Baroque Festival in full swing.
Stanthorpe will be getting its baroque moment on Sunday 19 April with a glorious concert of baroque cello music at the Robert Channon Winery.
The cellists are baroque experts Belinda Manwaring, Tim Blomfield and Julie Hopson.
Robert Channon said: “The baroque period includes many of our best loved composers – Handel, JS Bach, Vivaldi and so many more.
“Belinda and Tim are passionate exponents of the baroque cello and their programme, played on period instruments by the same maker, will include works by Gabrielli, Vivaldi, JS Bach, Kummer and Haydn.
“It will give a captivating picture of what happened with the cello in the first two centuries of its life as a solo instrument.
“Belinda and Tim will also be a fund of information and stories about the baroque cello and baroque music and the audience will have a chance to chat with them over a glass of wine after the concert.”
The concert is the Swigmore Hall at Robert Channon Wines at 2pm on Sunday 19 April.
Tickets are $25 including a glass of wine at the interval.
Lunches are available beforehand in the Singing Lake Café.
