Gallipoli dinner, auction

A DINNER and auction will be held next week to mark the centenary of Gallipoli. Organised by Norm Gale, president of Stanthorpe and District Naval Sub Section, ‘A Dinner of Friendship’ will be held on Thursday 23 April at Happy Valley Retreat. Proceeds from the auction of memorabilia will be put towards the welfare of Defence Force Personnel as well as local community organisations. Invited guests include Chief of Navy Tim Barrett AO, CSC, RAN, Commodore Mark Hammond RAN Submarine Programme, Air Commodore Scott Winchester RAAF Amberley and US Consul General Hugo Llorens.
Gymkhana for equestrian lovers
CUNNINGHAM Pony Club will hold its annual ‘Sporting Gymkhana’ next weekend. Gymkhana is an equestrian event where riders partake in speed pattern racing and timed games. The event will be held on Sunday 26 April from 9am at Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve, 1239 Upper Wheatvale Road, Warwick. Nominations will cost $15 and PCAQ membership is required on nomination. Yorks to benefit from concert
A CONCERT to benefit Ronnie and Sue York will be held by a group of like-minded musos this week. Starting at 6pm on Friday 17 April, the concert will be held at O’Mahony’s Hotel, opposite the railway station. A barbecue dinner will begin at 6.30pm. Raffle tickets for a 6-burner barbecue will be sold prior to and throughout the night, with this and other great prizes to be given away on the night. Entertainers include The East Street Singers, A Fraction Over, Aperitif, The Anderssens, members of The Folk Club and the Wuppies. Both Ronnie and Sue have connections to these groups. Entry to the night is free, with many opportunities throughout the event to support this important cause. No bookings are required, just bring yourself and prepare to be thoroughly entertained.
THE Tannymorel Bowls Club in honour of Jackie Bunch is hosting a fund-raising day for the Cancer Council of Queensland on Saturday 18 April.
