WARWICK police conducted a weekend long operation during the rodeo netting several offenders, although no serious crimes were reported.
Operation Enola commenced on Friday and wrapped on Sunday at the completion of the rodeo. Although there were several offences recorded, it was noted that crowds were generally well behaved over the weekend.
In total five people were charged with public nuisance, one for public urination, two for obstructing police, 13 for drug-related offences, 10 traffic-related offences and there were 114 tickets issued for a variety of offences.
The offences were committed across a large area with the police operation including the showgrounds, CBD and the greater Warwick area.
Senior Sergeant Jamie Deacon noted the crowds were generally well behaved.
“The Rodeo crowd were very well behaved. There were only two public nuisance offences committed at the showgrounds over the three days,” he said.
There were a total of 567 random breath tests conducted on the roads during the operation with no-one being charged. However there were 14 people caught for drug-driving.
Sen Sgt Deacon said he was pleased that none were caught drink-driving.
“That would indicate to me that the message may be getting through – to not risk it,” he said.
