THE 2015 Warwick Rodeo and Campdraft has wrapped up after seven days of competitive action.
This year’s combination of the Gold Cup Campdraft and Rodeo Australian Championships meant that the prestige for this year’s events was higher than ever – and the action did not disappoint.
Sunday saw the fourth and final round of action and competitors from across Australia clashed one last time to determine who would be going home with the trophies.
In the end, Warwick campdrafter Ben Tapp claimed the Pryde’s Easifeed Warwick Gold Cup for the second time and ensured the trophy would be staying local. Tapp can now lay claim to being a double champion after also taking the cup in 2012. It wasn’t the only local win, with the winning horse also Warwick bred by enthusiast Peter Mutch.
The big winner from the rodeo action was Shane Kenny who took home Australian All Round Champion Cowboy after also claiming the titles of Australian Rope and Tie Champion, Australian Steer Wrestling Champion and Australian Team Roping Head Champion. It was a first-class performance by the Queenslander to claim four titles and it has set an extremely high benchmark for future competitions.
In the other big events Brad Peirce claimed Australian Saddle Bronc Riding Champion and Troy Wilkinson impressed taking the Australian Bull Riding Champion title.
Stephanie Gard took it home for the ladies with the Australian All Round Champion Cowgirl.
