MORE than 2000 people spread their picnic rugs and chilled out at the first Killarney Picnic Basket Day at Melrose Station on a beautiful Autumn day on Sunday.
The event was the brainchild of one of Killarney’s favourite son’s – the late Councillor Jamie McDonald – a day for people to chat and read and just stretch out and relax.
Event leader Deb Bradfield said it was a beautiful day and so successful that it is expected to be an annual event with this year’s event pulled together and organised in just six weeks.
She said a special thank you to Peter and Colleen Lindores for opening their garden to create such a great event.
It was a fantastic fund-raiser for the Livin charity (though the exact amount is yet to be determined), and the organisers can’t wait to do it all again next year
