TWO lucky Southern Downs residents met with mayor, Tracy Dobie, to claim prizes in the latest MY SDRC app promotion for the months of April and May.
The mayor congratulated both entrants and presented them with their prizes of a compost bin and worm farm.
“It was a pleasure to meet Scott, Cara and her daughter Esther and present these prizes to them,” said the mayor.
Scott McMahon downloaded the app in April because he thought it would be a useful tool to access local information.
“I downloaded it to keep up to date,” he said.
Cara Hall also downloaded the app in April but as she was not selected as the April winner, she stayed in the running to walk away with May’s prize.
Cara said she thought the MY SDRC app was a great way to notify council of issues within the community, as people often commented to her about local issues that required council attention.
“I think the MY SDRC app will be really useful and it’s easy to use. It’s very handy, and it allows people to submit requests on the go and let others get on with the job.”
Like Scott, Cara also said she downloaded the app to stay up to date with local information.
“I want to know what’s on around the Stanthorpe area, and I’ve already used it to look up some of the councillors and to see what’s happening around the region,” she said.
The MY SDRC app is a one-stop shop that provides residents with quick and easy access to the latest council news and news about what is happening in our region.
It also offers a ‘Fix it’ page to report an issue to council, an alerts page which can provide information in the event of a local disaster, and provides the ability to contact councillors at a simple touch.
The current MY SDRC app promotion runs until December with prizes to be won each month that support sustainable living.
“If you haven’t yet downloaded the free MY SDRC app, I recommend you do so, and you could get lucky and nab yourself one of these great prizes,” Cr Dobie said.
