Set for spring spectacular

Great treats will be available.

THE countdown to spring is on.
While gardeners are itching to get their hands dirty, the hands of Warwick West Primary School children, parents and teachers are busy preparing for their annual Spring Spectacular Fete to be held on Friday 9 September.
With the Rodeo Mardi Gras a no-go this year, P&C President Kerri Walters sees an opening for West School’s Spring Spectacular to fill a void in the community event calendar.
“Our event has everything that families would normally find at the Mardi Gras including amusement rides, novelty stalls, food and entertainment,” she said.
“We have a wonderful reputation of delivering a fun, family-orientated event that runs from afternoon to evening to accommodate everyone including families, the elderly and young people.
“Effectively, our Spring Spectacular is akin to the Warwick Show. It’s big, with attractions such as a fun fair with six rides, class stalls including show bags, hot food, games, lucky dips, fairy floss and a great entertainment program with bands, a lip syncing competition, and a talent quest.”
For those who are keen to get among the raffle action, the school has an incredible array of prizes donated by Saturn Electrical, including a four burner barbecue, a 32 inch television, a bar fridge, a $200 fuel voucher, a $250 Paradise Resort voucher as well as bonus mystery draws.
Principal Jason Callcott sees the fete as a day when children and parents can enjoy some traditional fun together of the pre-technology variety.
“With rides, food and entertainment, this is a day the kids look forward to all year and it also provides an important boost to the P&C’s ongoing program of enhancements to the school’s facilities,” Mr Callcott said.
Brilliant spring weather will equate to strong attendance and plenty of excitement in the portable fairground.
This year’s amusement rides include the Scrambler, mega chairs, train ride, rock wall, slide and cup and saucer.
Parents can pay one price and the kids can ride all night long.
Kerri Walters said the school’s armband system entitles the wearer to unlimited rides for the fete’s duration, representing great value.
Armbands can be purchased from the school prior to fete day for $35 per person, which includes a drink and chips, or $40 on the day.
Individual rides are just $6.
Ms Walters is hoping the community comes out in force to support the school’s night-time fete.
“Our Spring Spectacular is the school’s biggest fundraiser each year but it is also an opportunity to welcome the larger Warwick community to the West school community,” Mrs Walters said.
