ANZAC Day at Inglewood attracts a large crowd

ANZAC Day celebrations at Inglewood attracted a crowd of about 200 people.
The Civic Service was held at the War Memorial in the town’s Memorial Park.
Prior to the service, a procession headed by personnel from the 82 Wing of Amberley Air Force Base marched the two blocks from George Street to the park.
Taking part in the parade were Returned Service personnel, Inglewood Police officers, members of the local State Emergency Service Group, Inglewood Pony Club members,  students of the Inglewood State School and the St Maria Goretti Convent School.
The service was conducted in brilliant autumn weather with the commemorative address being given by Squadron Leader Clayton Wilson of Amberley.
Squadron Leader Wilson spoke of the courage of members of the Australian Armed Forces during times of war and said, although mateship underscored many of the feats of heroism, there was also a strong element of compassion which extended to people other than their comrades.
Taking part in the various sections of the service were Inglewood branch manager for the Goondiwindi Regional Council Ian Badham, Councillor Rick McDougall, Rev Laurel Raymond, Wayne Wills, Wayne Sawdy, school students and pony club members. Musical items were given by Kaitlyn
and Shannon Rush and well known Inglewood vocalist Diane Bevan who was accompanied on the guitar by Henry Bartholomew.
At the conclusion of the service a morning tea of ANZAC biscuits, coffee and tea was provided by the Lions Club of Inglewood and the Goondiwindi Regional Council.
