TYME to perform

Stanthorpe State School students were amongst a highly talented group of musical performers who participated in this year’s The Today’s Youth in Music Education (TYME) Festival.
Showcasing the excellent standard of performing arts programs in our schools, this festival provides a wonderful platform for students to perform their musical talents in front of an appreciative public who delight in attending each year.
The beautiful grounds of the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba formed a picturesque background to the day of non-stop entertainment provided by students from the Darling Downs, Warwick and the Granite Belt districts. With six main performance areas for concert bands, orchestras, string ensembles, rock bands, stage bands and choirs to perform, music lovers were treated to a veritable smorgasbord of music, with Stanthorpe State School’s string ensemble, choir and concert band a real standout on the day.
Bolstered by the company of their very proud music teache, Mrs Bev McMahon, Instrumental teacher Mr Bruce Eddiehausen, our invaluable accompanying pianist Mrs Peggy Channon, classroom teacher Mrs Terri McMeniman, Assistant Principal Mr John Sattler and a very supportive group of parents, our music students played and sang their music pieces beautifully, with great confidence and excellent presentation.
Our school music program is all encompassing, with students availed the opportunity to learn a range of brass, woodwind and string instruments and enhance their skills through participation in music camps, eisteddfods and public performances throughout the school year.
We look forward to performing in the TYME Festival again next year and encourage everyone who loves music to come along and enjoy this fabulous, feel good day out.
