Expo outing a blooming success

By BEATRICE HAWKINS

The site was crammed with exhibitors with such a variety of wares on show that a day was not enough time to take it all in. There is only so much my brain can absorb in a limited time and there was so much useful information available.

Demonstrations and lectures on a wide variety of subjects were conducted regularly throughout the day. I would love to have had the time to attend all of these as well as check out all the stalls but I doubt if mind and body could have handled it.
Organic gardening was the flavour this year with a wide variety of organic soil improvers, fertilisers and pest control options on display. The soil is where it all starts and with healthy soil it is possible to grow healthy, disease and pest-resistant plants. Some of the more interesting products available were made from Neem oil and aloe vera.
Thankyou to all the exhibitors that donated some of their products to the club to be used in the various competitions and raffles later in the year. Over the coming weeks I will endeavour to give a synopsis of each of these.
The floral art displays were beautiful and the variety and quantity of plants available for purchase was spectacular.
Another product I saw and really liked was Plasmar long-life posts and garden accessories – a 100 per cent recycled alternative to timber.
What a great day out with other garden enthusiasts. I am already listing attendance at Queensland Garden Expo as a must for next year!
