Mobile library is safe

THE Southern Downs Regional Council’s mobile library will be back up and running by the week beginning 22 July, after it was pulled from operations due to repairs.
The bus was taken out of service last week, after the bus driver noticed the temperature gauge varying.
Council’s workshop staff investigated and found that repairs were needed.
Fortunately, the mobile library’s future is certain after council announced a total of $135,000 for this financial year for overheads including maintenance and staff wages.
“We expect the mobile library to be out of action until 19 July and hope the service can be resumed in the week beginning 22 July,” a spokesperson for council said.
“Council is currently reviewing its mobile library service with a view to considering all options for the future. A report is expected to be presented to council before the end of this calendar year.”
