SOUTHERN Downs Regional Council has launched an investigation into a mysterious black ash-like substance flowing from taps in Killarney.
Council’s Water and Waste Water manager Tendekai Mapeza visited Robert and Patricia Conway’s home on Pine Street on Monday this week.
The visit was arranged to assess the water system and take samples for testing.
Mr Conway said he was still concerned about whether to avoid drinking the tap water.
“I don’t know what this ashy substance is and until it’s sorted out I remain concerned,” he said.
Mr Mapeza said the assessment went well but he was unable to provide any further comment at this stage.
A Council spokeswoman later said the matter was still being investigated.
Council has also asked for anyone experiencing the same ash-like substance from their taps to contact them on 1300 697 372.
