Honouring 50 years of Cancer Council volunteers

In celebration of National Volunteer Week this week (May 9-15), Cancer Council Queensland proudly pays tribute to the wonderful volunteers, past and present, who have inspired our work over 50 years to support Queenslanders affected by cancer.
Volunteers from South West Queensland are vital to cancer control. Each year, they offer their time, energy and support to create hope for a cancer-free Queensland.
Their efforts make a profound difference in the lives of cancer patients. They play a pivotal role in extending the local reach of our services and in raising funds for life-saving cancer research and support. They also serve on the frontline of cancer awareness, helping the local community to prevent and detect cancer.
With their help, we’ve increased cancer survival rates by 30 per
cent in Queensland during the past 20 years.
This achievement would not have been possible without volunteers. We recognise and thank volunteers for their tremendous contribution. Together we are building support in South West Queensland so that no Queenslander has to face cancer alone.
