Australia Day events

AUSTRALIA Day will be celebrated across the region on Sunday with a range of flag-raising and civic cermonies, along with community Australia Day Awards presentations and fun family activities. So join in, get involved, wave the flag, and celebrate together.

TENTERFIELD
Memorial Hall, Molesworth Street, Tenterfield. 8am: Ministers Fraternal Church Service 8.30am Breakfast served in the RSL Pavilion (gold coin). 9am: Civic Welcome and Awards.10.30am: Music by Michael O’Sullivan 10.55am Ceremony close and the Tenterfield Highlanders Pipe Band.
STANTHORPE
Celebrations begin at 2pm at Weeroona Park. There will be musical entertainment, barbecue, flag-raising, citizenship ceremony and the Australia Day awards ceremony.
WARWICK
Celebrations begin at 4pm at Queen’s Park. Face painting, food stalls, music, citizenship ceremony, Australia Day awards ceremony and the grand finale of the spectacular fireworks display.
WOODENBONG
Breakfast of billy tea and damper in the RSL Hall followed by the flag raising and official ceremony in the main Woodenbong Public Hall at 10am. Following the Australia Day awards, free lunch in the supper-room with live entertainment. Then the annual City versus Country cricket match.
ALLORA
While there’s no official Australia Day function, Allora will stage its Heritage Weekend.
CLIFTON
A free barbecue breakfat, entertainment and morning tea will be held at the FE Logan Hall from 7.30am Sunday.
GOONDIWINDI
Breakfast is provided by Rotary from 6.30am, with the awards ceremony from 8.30am.
KILLARNEY
The town will hold Australia Day celebrations in Pat Bush Park from 8am, with Lions Club breakfast, entertainment and awards ceremony.
