Birds of feather under hammer

EXCITEMENT is building for the Stanthorpe Poultry Auction this Sunday, 25 August.

The event will feature a total of 201 lots which will go under the hammer at the Stanthorpe Exhibition Centre, corner of Marsh and Lock streets.
Warwick Auctioneer, Rod Thomas, will again serve as lead auctioneer in what many locals have described as one of the best auctions on the Southern Downs.
The Exhibition Centre provides ample undercover seating and a canteen that will be serving from 7am.
Birds can also be viewed while they are auctioned with prior viewing starting at 8.30am and the auction starting at 9.30am.
Club chairwoman, Lyn Spencer, said bidders can expected a mixed range this year from small to large birds.
“This year we have pigeons to turkeys for sale with a variety of fowls available in both bantam and large,” she said.
“Several lots for sale are just hens – making this an advantage for the family who live in town who cannot have roosters due to council laws, but would like to have poultry as a pet or simply for the benefits of fresh eggs.”
